Vancouver’s Beloved Congee Noodle House Reopens After a 3-Year Hiatus

Attention, fans of homely comfort food!

The famous Congee Noodle House on East Broadway is making a much-awaited comeback, better and tastier than ever.

After enduring a three-year closure due to unforeseen construction issues next door and the COVID-19 pandemic, the beloved eatery is finally opening its doors again to the delight of its regulars and newcomers alike.

Who is Congee Noodle House?

A local favourite for over 20 years, the Congee Noodle House is a cherished icon in Vancouver’s culinary landscape. Known for its sumptuous signature dishes like congee, dumplings, and chow mein fried rice, the restaurant has left its mark on the city’s late-night dining scene.

In January 2020, an unfortunate incident involving the next-door condo construction site collapsed and sunk part of Congee Noodle House’s back parking lot, it was forced the restaurant to immediately close its doors.

The hiatus, further lengthened by COVID-19, has ended up lasting three years.

A New Chapter Begins

After a long absence, Congee Noodle House is officially back. Beyond the familiar façade, you’ll now find two private dining rooms, offering a more intimate dining experience.

And ofcourse, you’ll find the back parking lot fixed up!

The restaurant remains committed to serving its traditional, beloved dishes. Expect to relish a large selection of comforting Chinese classics, with affordable options still on the menu. However, customers can also look forward to new culinary delights, as the menu has been revamped to offer some exciting new dishes.

Congee Noodle House is a haven for congee lovers in Vancouver. If you’re in the mood for something more substantial, their chow mein and rice rolls are equally satisfying.
