Yuwa Makes Limited Delicious Sakura-Inspired Dishes That Will Make You Fall In Love

Two things Vancouverites look forward to when April rolls around are a break from the rainy weather or the and longer days…but also the incredible cherry blossoms that covers the city and cherry blossom-themed dishes created by local restaurants.

For the uninitiated, cherry blossom petals can be used, as an ingredient, in a bunch of ways. When it is pickled, it they can be used for cookies, candy, cakes, etc. And because the petals are edible, its the beautiful pale pink colour makes for a great way to brighten up a dish.

To celebrate cherry blossom season, the award-winning Kitsilano restaurant, Yuwa Japanese Cuisine, crafted special and limited-time Sakura-themed dishes that you definitely should watch out for.

With over 20 years of experience in masterfully creating regional Japanese cuisine, Chef Masahiro Omori and his team prepared 3 Sakura themed dishes:

1. Grilled White Asparagus Miso Yaki

The Grilled White Asparagus is made from French white asparagus grilled with shiso shio-koji shiso miso, topped with microgreens and cherry blossoms. A perfect item to pair along with an order of Aburi Miso Salmon Roll.

It’s safe to say that mochi is loved by everyone. And when it is combined with sakura, it takes it to the next level. The Ran Man is a mochi wrapped with sakura cherry blossom white bean paste, and with a sakura gin jelly on the side.

But you have to act quick since these dishes are only available until the end of April.
