If you live in Burnaby and have been jealous of your Vancouver friends’ lower grocery bills, the wait is finally over.
Back in December, we confirmed that the massive commercial unit in the new Valeo development in Burnaby Heights, once rumored to be a Nesters Market, was actually becoming the city’s first No Frills.
Now, we have the official date.
According to an announcement from the store’s team, Justin’s No Frills will officially open its doors this week.
So get your loonies ready for the carts.
The Grand Opening is set for Thursday, January 29th, 2026, at 8:00 AM.
The store is taking over the prime space at 4762 Hastings Street (at the corner of Gamma), filling a major gap in the neighbourhood’s grocery options.
For those who missed our initial report, this opening is significant because Burnaby has surprisingly been a “No Frills desert” until now.
While the “Hauler” brand has locations in Vancouver, Coquitlam, and Surrey, this marks their very first location within Burnaby city limits.
Locals can expect the chain’s signature bright yellow branding and a shopping experience that strips away expensive displays in exchange for lower prices on staples.
The arrival of the yellow army is part of a larger transformation for this block of Hastings.

Alongside the grocery store, the Valeo building will also house a new BMO branch.
Meanwhile, directly across the street, the former Pizza Hut unit was recently converted into a Vegas Donuts, turning this intersection into a busy hub for both errands and treats.
The team has been actively hiring cashiers and clerks over the last month to prepare for the rush.
If you are planning to head down for the opening on Thursday morning, expect a crowd cause Burnaby residents have been waiting a long time for this one.
