Four of the most famous hobbits in movie history spent their Valentine’s Day weekend eating at one of Vancouver’s most iconic restaurants.
Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan dined at Vij’s while they were in town for Fan Expo Vancouver.
The four actors, who played Frodo, Samwise, Pippin, and Merry in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, were in the city for “An Evening with the Hobbits,” a special event marking the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring.
Chef Vikram Vij shared photos on Instagram posing with the group, writing “four incredible artists whose work has brought so much joy to audiences around the world, gathered around our table in Vancouver.”
The actors also gave Vij’s a shoutout on stage during their Fan Expo panel.
In a video interview with Destination Vancouver, all four actors talked about their time in the city.
The video includes a segment about where they ate during their stay.
Along with Vij’s, the group also dined at Mott 32.
The actors described Vancouver’s food scene as “very friendly” and called it “fantastic.”
Each of the four actors also left Vij’s with a copy of Chef Vij’s new cookbook, My New Indian Kitchen, co-authored with Jennifer Muttoo.
Vij’s is no stranger to celebrity guests.
The restaurant has hosted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who dined there with Michael Buble and his wife Luisana Lopilato.
Hilary Swank, Tom Cruise, Sandra Oh, Harrison Ford, Martha Stewart, Goldie Hawn, Robin Williams, and Anthony Bourdain have all eaten there too.
The restaurant, which has been a Vancouver institution for decades, is known for its elevated Indian cuisine and warm atmosphere.
The four hobbit actors have upcoming appearances scheduled in Calgary in April and Toronto in August as part of the ongoing 25th anniversary celebration.
