Parker Place spent the spring welcoming a new rice roll stall, Yummy Rice Roll.
Now the food court is saying goodbye to a corner it held for years.
Jiang Jiang, the Xinjiang cuisine stall in the Parker Place food court, has shut down.
We spotted the closure on a recent walk-through, the corner counter now wrapped head to toe in plastic sheeting under its own sign.
The timing points to early July.

It makes for a small portrait of a food court in flux.
Yummy Rice Roll opened a few units over in the spring, taking the small spot next to Icy Bar, and Toishan Fei Mui brought Taishan style hand-shredded chicken to the court back in February.
So the corners have been filling even as this one gets boxed up, which is not the story food courts usually tell right now.
The stall opened back in 2021, which put it at about four years when it closed.
For that stretch it was the food court’s window into Northwestern Chinese cooking.
The menu ran lamb skewers, Xinjiang style grilled stuffed buns, lamb soup with guts, a signature big plate chicken, and more of the hearty, cumin-heavy plates the region is known for.
Those are the staples of China’s far northwest, a cuisine Richmond’s food courts carry far less of than Cantonese or Sichuan cooking.
It is uncertain what takes the corner next.
No coming-soon banner has gone up over the wrapped counter, so the corner reads as a full stop rather than a changeover.

What makes this one land differently is where it happened.
Parker Place has seen noticeably less turnover than the other big Richmond food courts, the kind of stability that lets a stall become a fixture.
A closure here is not the monthly turnover at the other food courts.
That stability may be getting harder to hold.
Between a punishing economy for small food businesses and a generation of stall owners reaching retirement age, the quiet corners of Richmond’s older food courts are the ones to watch.
Jiang Jiang now joins other recently closed Richmond food spots like Mino Sushi Conveyor at Mino Club Cafe, Bruno at the Versante Hotel, and Hazukido Cafe Plus at Aberdeen Centre.
