The whole province has four of them right now, and two of those sit in Surrey.
Jollibee, the mega popular Filipino fast food chain built on fried chicken and sweet-style spaghetti, has committed to opening 16 more restaurants across British Columbia.
According to a report by InsiderPH, the agreement was signed in July and runs on a five year build-out.
If every one of them opens, BC goes from four Jollibees to 20.
Here is the part nobody has answered yet.
The company has not named the franchise partner behind the deal, describing it only as an experienced multi-brand food retail operator.
No cities and no sites have been announced either, so there is no map to point at and no opening date to circle.
The existing base is four stores: 833 Granville Street and 2549 Cambie Street in Vancouver, plus two in Surrey, one of them on King George Boulevard.
But if we had to guess, Burnaby and Richmond are no doubt prime cities to open in.
Those four are company-operated, which is what makes this deal a shift rather than just a bigger number.
Every Jollibee currently open in Canada is run by the company itself, all 28 of them across five provinces.
Whereas the 16 upcoming BC restaurants will be franchised.
The chain’s BC history is short.
The first Vancouver location opened in 2022, and the Surrey store became Jollibee’s 100th restaurant in North America in early 2024.
Ontario carries the biggest Canadian footprint at 12 locations.
Quebec and Atlantic Canada still have none.
Alberta also signed a separate agreement to bring on more franchised locations.
“Canada continues to be an attractive growth market for Jollibee, supported by strong consumer demand, strong brand relevance, and increasing interest from experienced franchise operators,” said Richard Shin, the Jollibee Group’s chief financial officer and international chief executive.
The wider target is 500 North American restaurants by 2030, from a base of 109 in early 2026.
For anyone in BC, the practical read is simpler.
Sixteen restaurants over five years works out to roughly three a year, and the four current locations all sit in Vancouver or Surrey, which leaves most of the Lower Mainland and everything outside it as open territory.
Until an address surfaces, the Granville Street counter is still the closest thing to news you can act on.
