A grocery run on East Hastings could come with sushi, donuts and a burrito bar in 2027.
Fresh St. Market has announced a new Hastings-Sunrise location, planned for fall 2027.
The 21,452-sq.ft store will be at 2585 East Hastings Street, inside the Alba development.
The company is calling it its 11th location and third in Vancouver, following its stores in Kitsilano and at Vancouver House.
There is a wait ahead.
For anyone deciding between picking up groceries and finding something ready to eat, the proposed counters cover both errands.
Freshly made sushi, a burrito bar, a carvery and an expanded hot bar are all part of the plan, alongside dedicated seating.
Peak Donuts and hot-off-the-plate cookies are also on the announced lineup.
Those are the details to watch if your usual grocery trip tends to include a detour for something sweet.
The rest of the store will carry produce, Certified Angus Beef, seafood, bakery and deli items, plus grocery staples.
Fresh St. Market says locally sourced produce will be part of the selection, though it has not named the suppliers for this location.
“Hastings Sunrise has a deep sense of community and a strong appreciation for fresh, local food,” says Palle Knudsen, Fresh St. Market’s vice-president of retail operations and marketing.
The address puts the market in the ground-floor retail space at Alba, a development with 157 rental homes.
Alba’s own website also lists London Drugs as a ground-floor retailer, so the grocery store is one part of a larger retail addition to the building.
The company also expects the store to create local jobs, but has not announced a hiring total.
The market’s fall 2027 target is the date to keep in mind for a shopping trip.
A specific opening day has not been announced, and the supplied store renderings show the proposed space rather than a finished, operating shop.
The announcement also puts a second 2027 store on the calendar for the B.C.-based, family-owned chain.
Back in June, we reported on its planned Richmond Centre location, a larger 26,425-square-foot store at 6553 Park Road with a summer 2027 target.
That Richmond announcement included several of the same prepared-food features, from sushi and a carvery to Peak Donuts and seating.
For Hastings-Sunrise, it gives some context for the format being promised: a full grocery shop with several ways to pick up a meal along the way.
Richmond is billed as the chain’s tenth location, with Hastings-Sunrise following as number 11.
The East Hastings project joins the previously announced Richmond Centre expansion on Fresh St. Market’s 2027 opening plans.
