Vancouver just got its first Two MICHELIN Star restaurant, and nine spots from last year’s guide didn’t make the 2026 list.
The MICHELIN Guide revealed its 2026 Vancouver selection on October 6, and AnnaLena in Kitsilano is the one moving up big time.
It was just crowned the city’s first two MICHELIN Star.
Chef Michael Robbins opened it with managing partner Jeff Parr in 2015, when he was 29.

It has held One Star since Michelin’s first Vancouver guide in 2022.
The guide now has 72 restaurants, down from 76 last year.
Going the other way is Barbara, who lost its star.
The 17-seat Chinatown tasting menu spot from chef Patrick Hennessy had held One Star since 2022, and it’s now listed as Recommended.
This year, nine restaurants were dropped off the list entirely.
Some are closures: Fable Kitchen served its last plates on September 20, Bacaro closed in March, and Wildlight Kitchen + Bar at UBC closes on November 28.
But several of this year’s cuts are still open.
That includes a surprisingly cut of Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, which Vancouver Magazine named its 2026 Restaurant of the Year in May and continues to place top 5 in the Chinese Restaurant Awards.
Café Medina, Bar Gobo and the Lobby Lounge & RawBar at the Fairmont Pacific Rim were also cut.
Cut or demoted in 2026
– Barbara (One Star to Recommended)
– Fable Kitchen (Bib Gourmand, closed)
– Bacaro (closed)
– Wildlight Kitchen + Bar (closing November 28)
– Dynasty Seafood
– Café Medina
– Bar Gobo
– Bonjour Vietnam Bistro
– New Mandarin Seafood Restaurant
– The Lobby Lounge & RawBar
Two spots picked up a Bib Gourmand.
Kavita in Mount Pleasant is new to the guide.

Chef Tushar Tondvalkar opened it in October 2025 and named it after his mother, and general manager Yash Shah also took home Michelin’s Outstanding Service Award.
Inspectors singled out its saag paneer, made with water buffalo milk from Abbotsford and foraged nettles.
Chef’s Choice Seafood Restaurant on West Broadway moved up from Recommended.
Inspectors call its lunch “an absolute steal.”
Four restaurants joined as Recommended for the first time.
Jay Nok is the Olympic Village Thai spot from the Kongsilp family, who ran SalaThai for nearly 40 years.
It opened in February 2025, and its Pad Thai comes wrapped in a thin egg crepe.
Jeju is the Vancouver location of the Tofino Korean restaurant, opened on East Broadway in November 2025 by Dylan and Sung Kim.

Dylan’s mom, Julie Suh, cooks too, and the menu is split between dishes from “Mama Julie” and from Dylan.
Niwa, on Powell Street next to Nero Tondo, is a Japanese-inspired spot from chef Darren Gee and the team behind Dachi.
It does its own whole-animal butchery in-house.
Peya is a French-Indian brasserie in Hastings Sunrise from The Ellis team, chef Ashwani Dabas and Kevin Day.
Bar manager Chris Enns won Michelin’s Exceptional Cocktails Award.
The other two awards went to Mark Taylor of Bacchus (Sommelier) and Vish Mayekar of Elem (Young Chef).
