Burnaby’s Korean Chubby Waffle & Dessert Cafe Announces Closure After 4 Years

It’s a tough day for sweet tooth lovers in Burnaby.

The cherished Korean dessert cafe, Basak, has announced on Instagram it will be shutting down after four years of operation.

Located beside Hannam Plaza on North Road, Basak stood out with its bright yellow interior and line of yellow umbrellas suspended from the ceiling.

It was an inviting and aesthetic atmosphere to enjoy some sweets!

From their huge Strawberry and Green Tea with Red Bean Waffles to the savoury delight of Korean rice corndogs, the menu had something for everyone.

On March 13th, the Basak team took to Instagram to share their difficult decision to close the cafe.

The reason is heartwarming yet bittersweet—they wish to dedicate more time to their family.

Basak’s final day of operation will be March 28th, marking the end of an era for Burnaby’s dessert joint.

For those who’ve yet to experience Basak’s sweet offerings or wish to say one last goodbye, now is the time.
