Vancouver’s Chinatown is about to get seriously spicy (and sweet!) for Asian Heritage Month.
Mark your calendars for the Lucky Red Chili Party on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, a fiery food celebration bringing together some absolute local legends.
Spearheaded by the awesome Holy Duck Chili crew and presented in partnership with Foo Hung Curios (the gift shop inside the Chinatown Storytelling Centre), this event sounds like a must-attend.

Started back in 2023, the party aims to spotlight local farms, share stories of Asian Canadian chefs, and inject some flavourful energy back into Chinatown – all while benefiting the Chinatown Storytelling Centre.
This year, they’re rolling out a five-course tasting menu ($22 tickets, on sale April 22nd!) featuring exclusive chili-infused creations from some heavy hitters:
- Torafuku: The 3-year Michelin-recommended spot.
- Lee’s Donuts: Yup, the Granville Island icons!
- Fresh Ideas Start Here (F.I.S.H.): Your go-to for quality seafood.
- Holy Duck Chili: Of course, bringing their award-winning chili oils.
Think dishes like salted egg chili fried chicken, poached spot prawns tossed in a punchy chili vinaigrette, and – wait for it – mango chili honey glazed donuts from Lee’s.
Each dish will showcase different Holy Duck Chili Oils, including limited-edition ones made with BC spot prawns and Abbotsford lion’s mane mushrooms.
The party runs from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, offering a chance to taste, mingle, and support a great cause.
But wait, there’s more (donuts!)
Even if you can’t snag a ticket to the main tasting event, Lee’s Donuts is making its first-ever Chinatown debut for this collab, and you won’t want to miss it.
On May 3rd only, head to the Chinatown Storytelling Centre for walk-in purchases (first come, first served!) of two exclusive Lee’s Donuts x Holy Duck Chili Chinatown Boxes:
- The Double Happiness Box: Features Lee’s exclusive Mango Chili Blaze donut holes (made with Holy Duck’s OG Chili Oil using Fraser Valley duck fat!) plus a full jar of that chili oil to take home. All packed in Lee’s signature yellow box.
- The Mango Chili Blaze Dozen: Just want the donuts? Grab a full dozen of those chili-kissed mango holes!
This is your only chance to grab this unique, spicy-sweet collab from two beloved Vancouver brands.
The Lucky Red Chili Party kicks off a whole month of Asian Heritage Month celebrations at Foo Hung Curios and the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, including pop-ups from Saan Saan Cafe (May 17) and Bagel Days (May 31), plus a book launch (May 25).
This sounds like a “ducking delicious” way to celebrate and support Chinatown. Who’s ready for some heat?
