Vancouver’s Iconic Crêpe Shop Shuts Down After 27 Years, Quietly Reopens Nearby

The neon sign is still there, but the doors are locked, the windows are papered, and a “For Lease” sign now sits where one of downtown Vancouver’s most recognizable food landmarks used to welcome walk-ins.

Cafe Crepe has shut down its iconic Express location at Granville and Robson Street, the corner spot below Best Buy and across from Pacific Centre.

It has been a fixture of the downtown core for more than 20 years.

The closure happened back in March 2026, ending a 20+ year run at one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the city.

If you have ever walked Granville Street at night, you know the sign.

The oversized neon Cafe Crepe lettering was part of the block’s visual identity, right alongside the theatre marquees and the Pacific Centre glow.

The story behind the brand goes back further than the Vancouver location.

Cafe Crepe’s founder fell in love with crêpes while studying in Paris decades ago.

When he returned to Canada, he brought a Parisian crêpe chef specialist with him and together they opened the first Cafe Crepe in 1999, built on traditional Parisian crêpe recipes.

The menu covered both savoury and sweet. Savoury crêpes ranged from an Original Cheese to the L’Epicurien with prosciutto, brie, and basil puree.

Sweet options ran from an Original Sweet to the Bon Enfants with Kinder Bueno and hazelnut butter cream.

There was also a build-your-own charcuterie crêpe section and a full chocolate crêpe lineup using Callebaut and Nutella.

This is not the first time Cafe Crepe has lost a Vancouver location.

In 2020, the brand closed its other Robson Street spot, leaving the Granville and Robson corner as the last downtown holdout.

Now that corner is done too.

But there is a silver lining.

Cafe Crepe has quietly reopened further down Granville Street at 672 Granville, right beside the Granville SkyTrain station entrance.

That location opened in early April 2026.

It is now the only Cafe Crepe location in North America.

The Toronto outpost has also shut down, making the 672 Granville spot the brand’s sole remaining presence on the continent.

For longtime fans of the crêperie, the new location means the crêpes are not gone from Vancouver, they have just moved a few blocks south.
