Itโs finally happening,โHeyTea is officially opening its first outpost in Richmond this week.
After months of waiting, the grand opening will take place on January 24th at 11:00 AM.
For those whoโve been keeping tabs, the former Blackball corner unit at Union Square underwent a sudden closure back in August 2024.
The day after, one of our Noms Mag community members (@withnatwong) spotted HeyTea signage plastered all over the windows.
Fast forward to today, and the wait is over.
To celebrate, HeyTea announced on their official Canadian Instagram that theyโll be handing out an exclusive Five Sails city magnet, inspired by Canada Place, to commemorate the occasion.
If youโre a collector of their fridge magnets, you already know how big of a deal this is.
These limited-edition magnets are typically released whenever HeyTea opens in a new city.
On Chinese social media, many collectors have offered to buy bubble tea for anyone willing to part with their magnet.
Union Square is already home to heavy hitters like MACU Tea and Chayan, so itโll be interesting to see how HeyTea fares in this bubble tea battleground.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, HeyTea is a pioneer in the โNew-Style Teaโ and โCheese Teaโ movements that started in 2012 in a small alley in Jiangbianli, China.
Theyโve since exploded in popularity, with over 1,000 stores across China, Singapore and the UK.
HeyTea prides itself on quality, using only natural ingredients like 100% fruit juices, natural rock sugar, and no powders.
HeyTeaโs BC debut at Burnaby’s Crystal Mall last March set a high standard, and Richmond fans have been eagerly awaiting their turn ever since.
This new location is joining a growing lineup of bubble tea and dessert spots set to open at Union Square, including Sweet7 and the upcoming Binggo, a frozen dessert and bubble tea brand.
