Richmond 4.7-Star Vietnamese Stall Quietly Shuts Down After 2 Years

A Richmond food court stall that pulled a 4.7-star rating in just two years has quietly served its last bowl of pho.

We noticed that Hight Dragon Vietnamese Cuisine has shut down inside the Richmond Public Market food court.

Richmond Public Market has long been a go-to for cheap eats and Asian grocery runs, and the food court is a big part of the draw locally and for tourists.

Hight first week of opening in 2024

Hight Dragon opened back in May 2024 with a full lineup of Vietnamese comfort food.

The menu carried pho with rare beef, stir beef, beef with beef ribs, a spicy rare beef with tendon, chicken pho, and even a Vietnamese paddy crab noodle.

Vermicelli bowls and grilled pork chop rice plates went for about 15.95 dollars, covering lemongrass chicken, grilled shrimp, spring rolls, and pork skin.

Almost everything sat in that 14.95 to 15.95 dollar range, which is reasonable for a proper Vietnamese spread in a food court.

None of that was really the headline, though.

What stood out was the 4.7-star Google rating, with review after review calling the food fantastic and the staff nice and courteous.

For a stall that only ran for about two years, that kind of score is hard to earn.

Diners kept coming back for the pho and the grilled meat plates, and the warm service clearly did a lot of the work.

That makes the quiet exit sting a little more.

There was no announcement and no farewell post.

Newer Google reviews are the main sign that the stall closed up sometime last week.

Quiet closures like this have become a familiar story in Richmond food courts, where a stall can be there one week and gone the next.

The unit is not staying empty for long, either.

On a recent walk past the food court, we noticed fresh signage was already up pointing to a new rice noodle spot taking over the space.

By now that shop has opened, according to Red Note.

So the lights are back on here, but the Vietnamese stall that built a loyal following in this food court is done.

Richmond has been losing familiar names at a steady clip lately, and its food court stalls are not immune.

Hight Dragon now joins other recent Richmond closures like Datang Hot Pot, Pepper Lunch, and Miku Richmond.
