Back in 2016, the Lougheed area only had about two cafes.
Today there are more than 12 within a single kilometre, and one of the originals is about to throw the neighbourhood’s BIGGEST birthday party of the summer.
Yep, Juillet Cafe is turning the big 10 this year.
To celebrate this MASSIVE milestone, on August 22, everything on the menu: all drinks, desserts, and food, will be 50% off for one day only.
The one-day party comes with 2 live DJs running throughout the day (DJ Whisk – 9:30AM – 1:30PM; DJ Spin or Sync – 2PM – 6PM) and a 10-prize giveaway to mark the 10 years.

If last year is any indication, expect it to be a busy one. The team sold more than 1,500 items during their 9th anniversary celebration, and they’re expecting this one to even be bigger.
Every menu item will be available for takeout only.
The cafe sits on North Road in the stretch of Burnaby often called “K-Town,” where its original owners set out to grow the local coffee culture back when it had almost none.
The current owner, Lawrence, took over about four years ago, trading a banking background for espresso machines.
Since then, the program has been quietly rebuilt.
Coffee beans now come from House of Funk. The matcha is sourced from IPPODO TEA and PARAGON TEA ROOM, and baking moved in-house after they brought over a baker from Ontario to build the desserts, pastries, and paninis from scratch.
The matcha menu has been the BIG draw here.

The Jasmine-Osmanthus Matcha weaves jasmine and a hint of osmanthus into earthy matcha, and the summer-seasonal Pistachio Pandan Matcha blends Tache pistachio milk and a house-made pandan sauce.
On the dessert side, the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie comes out with golden edges and a gooey centre. The Hojicha Pistachio Cookie hides marshmallow and crunchy kataifi in the middle, the same crumbs used in Dubai chocolate.
The crowd has changed over the decade too.
What started as a mostly Korean customer base has grown into a much more diverse one, and the team leaned into it with hires from a variety of backgrounds so everyone feels welcome.
They’ve also kept one foot in the community beyond the counter, including an ongoing partnership with the Coquitlam Animal Shelter.
For Lawrence, the milestone belongs to the staff.
“A great concept may bring someone through the door once, but it’s the people behind it who give them a reason to come back,” he says.
The 50% off runs ONE day only on August 22 and it is one to bring your food bestie with you.
