If you’re hanging out in North Burnaby, here’s some sweet news that’ll have you counting down the days to spring.
One of our Noms Mag community members (@purplechives) spotted coming soon signs for Crema Ice Cream, a local brand known for their mashup of Latino, Asian, and classic flavours with a twist, making their way to Burnaby Heights.
Crema has been making waves with its colourful mini ice cream truck popping up at events around town, but this will be their first-ever retail storefront.
They are taking over a former hair and makeup studio on Willingdon and Hastings.
It’s a huge move for founders Heidi and Joe, who started Crema back in 2019 as a way to combine their Peruvian and Taiwanese roots into something truly delicious.
The idea was born when Heidi finished crafting Joe’s homemade birthday ice cream cake—a family tradition for the past 10 years, that sparked the realization that their shared love for ice cream could bring people together.
Inspired by their travels, childhood memories, and cultural events, the duo set out to create ice cream that’s as vibrant as their shared story.
Crema’s ice cream is all about the details.
It’s made with natural ingredients, locally sourced items (when in season), and ethically sourced flavours from Asia and Latin America.
The result?
Ice cream that’s packed with bold, unexpected flavours without the usual sugar and fat overload.
Their flavours are anything but boring!
Think Café con Leche, Horchata, and Mangonada (V) for a Latino twist, or Milo Malted Milk Chocolate and Coconut Passion Fruit to showcase their Asian-inspired flair.
Aside from scoops, Crema will also offer ice cream sandwiches and bubble waffles with ice cream, giving you even more ways to satisfy your sweet tooth.
According to the signage, Crema is set to open this Spring 2025.
