A North Burnaby Greek institution that has fed the neighbourhood for half a century served its final plates.
Little Billy’s, the family-run Greek steakhouse on Hastings Street, permanently closed on June 19 after 51 years in business.
The family shared the news in early June in a heartfelt message, saying it was with heavy hearts that they were announcing the closure.
The restaurant has been a fixture on the Burnaby Heights stretch of Hastings since 1975.
For 51 years it has been family owned and operated, the kind of neighborhood landmark where regulars became family and milestones got celebrated over dinner.
In the farewell note, the team thanked generations of families, longtime regulars, and staff past and present, along with the wider Burnaby community that supported the restaurant for half a century.
Since 1975, the family said, the restaurant had the privilege of serving generations of the same families, celebrating milestones big and small, and watching regulars become part of the family.
Little Billy’s built its name on Greek steakhouse cooking, the kind of menu people booked for birthdays, anniversaries, and big group dinners.
The announcement itself singled out the plates that defined the place, from the souvlaki to the flaming saganaki.
Beyond those, the menu leaned into Greek ribs, spicy calamari, moussaka, and bone-in steaks, the sort of spread built for sharing across a long table.
That reputation made it a go-to for special occasions in North Burnaby, with a steady 4.3 star rating built over decades of service.
The closure lands as another reminder of how hard it is for long-running family restaurants to keep going, even ones with a half-century of regulars behind them.
Little Billy’s joins a growing list of recent Burnaby closures, including Tendon Kohaku Brentwood, Kingspark Good Food, Soon Coffee.
