Another Richmond bubble tea spot has sadly called it quits.
Two Noms Mag community members (Linh & kw.lauv) shared with us that on January 15th, Pause nโ Sip announced on their Instagram of the closure of their Richmond Aberdeen Square location.
Pause nโ Sip isnโt your typical imported bubble tea chainโitโs a locally founded business with roots in the Richmond Night Market.
Known for their soda and milk tea drinks and partnership with Taiwanese J&G Fried Chicken, the brand initially shared a space in Downtown Vancouver before expanding to Aberdeen Square in November 2022.
The Richmond location was conveniently located right next to the Aberdeen Canada Line station entrance.
In their closure announcement, the Pause nโ Sip team reflected on their journey:
“Itโs with a heavy heart that we share this with you; we have made the difficult decision to close our Richmond locationโour last day will be tomorrow, Jan 15. Itโs been a whirlwind 3 years since the idea of Pause nโ Sip was born, and our team feels itโs time to take a step back to contemplate the next step and future direction for Pause nโ Sip. Hopefully, we wonโt be gone for too long!”
Over the past two years, Pause nโ Sip has carved out a unique identity in a city saturated with bubble tea chains. Their locally inspired approach and community-driven ethos earned them a loyal following. However, as they step away to consider their next chapter, the team made it clear that this isnโt goodbye forever:
“Itโs not a goodbye, itโs see you later!”
While itโs sad to see a local spot close its doors, the teamโs hopeful tone leaves fans optimistic about a potential return in the future.
For now, Pause nโ Sip joins the growing list of bubble tea spots that have come and gone in Richmond.
Last year, both Yifang and Machi Machi shut down their Richmond outposts, which were the last remaining locations in BC.
