If your holiday gift list is already getting long, The Shipyards in North Vancouver has TWO weekends of local makers to help you shorten it.

Made in the 604 is bringing its Holiday Market Series back to the historic Pipe Shop on November 7 to 8 and November 14 to 15.

Each weekend has its own vendor list.

The first brings 50+ local makers, artists and small businesses, and the second grows to 65+.

“Each weekend features a different lineup of local makers and small businesses, giving visitors a reason to come back and discover something new,” says Bahar Taheri, founder of Made in the 604.

Expect handmade gifts, jewellery, home décor, art, clothing, accessories, specialty foods and holiday treats, with food trucks on both weekends.

Best of all, entry is free, and the market is family-friendly and dog-friendly.

The Dog Zone is on the first weekend only, with local pet-focused businesses and goodies for four-legged visitors. I woof treats, My Bestie Barks and Dopa Dog are on that weekend’s vendor list.

You can also get a Christmas-themed caricature drawn by a live artist, have a poet write you a custom poem, or drop into a festive craft workshop.

For gifts, look for candles from BurnSugar Candle and HANA Candles, ceramics from Alchemistry, art from The Carnival of Glass, knitted and crocheted pieces from Cozy Cow Creations, clothing from Rosiepink Boutique and paper goods from The Wiseacre Cardmaker.

For food, Namak Kitchen serves fresh Iranian food, and Yumyumia makes small-batch chili oils.

Sweets, baked goods and specialty treats are inside the market too.

The second weekend adds live holiday music, and the caricature artist, the poet and the drop-in workshops are back.

The gift lineup changes too. Indigo and Cedar and Pacha Ancestral Design bring textiles, tsp Ceramics and Mini Cat Ceramics bring ceramics, and there’s home décor from Kayuya Wood, knitted and crocheted pieces from Fluffmallow World, prints from Uni’s Art World and kids’ goods from Red + Blue Stories.

For food, Molly and Marv’s brings its bagels from Squamish, and HOLY DUCK CHILI makes chili oil with duck fat.

On both weekends

Some makers are at both markets, including Bite Club Puzzles, Wood Contour Canada with kids’ goods, Koko & Nora with jewellery and Scentuals with skincare.

For holiday drinks, Copperpenny Distilling Co. comes over from Lower Lonsdale with its gins, vodka and akvavit, and Raincity Distillery brings gin, smoked vodka and bottled cocktails from Squamish.

Market Money up for grabs

The first 25 shoppers through the doors each day get Market Money to spend at the event.

We’re also giving away $100 in Market Money for each weekend on our Instagram, @nomsmag.

Make a day of it!

“Visitors can shop indoors at the historic Pipe Shop, then explore the waterfront, grab a bite, and enjoy everything the surrounding neighbourhood has to offer,” Bahar says.
