Vancouver’s Newest Cantonese BBQ Spot Has The Best $9.90 Char Siu W/ Rice

I’ve been working my way through Metro Vancouver’s cheap char siu rice deals for a while now, and the best one just opened in Cambie Village.

BBQ & Co opened its first real storefront at 3088 Cambie St on July 3, after a delay long enough that we first covered the signage going up back when a winter launch looked likely.

The name might ring a bell if you order delivery in Richmond.

The Cantonese BBQ operation started in 2025 out of MOD Kitchen, a commercial kitchen on Horseshoe Way, running takeout and delivery without a dining room.

Cambie changes that.

The new shop takes over the former Chef Wobot unit, and inside you’ll find a proper glass case of hanging roast ducks, several dine-in tables, and a TV that was playing Chinese singing competition shows when I stopped by.

The menu is built around the Cantonese BBQ trinity: char siu, soy sauce chicken, and crispy roast duck.

Rice plates run $12 for the fatty BBQ pork up to $17 for a quarter roast duck, with combos like the barbecue trio at $19.50 and a four treasure rice with Chinese sausage and salted egg at $16.50.

The deeper cuts are here too: whole birds and ducks by the half or whole, a free-range chicken in chili oil, Hong Kong style curry beef brisket, and $8.80 sides like curry fish balls and gai lan.

Bottled Hong Kong style iced milk tea rounds it out at $4.50, and the window advertises group ordering for anyone feeding an office.

I went during the soft opening, when the BBQ pork on rice was discounted to $9.90, the same price it now holds as the regular Tuesday weekly deal.

Here’s the thing: several spots around Metro Vancouver run a similar char siu rice deal, and I’ve tried most of them.

To me, this one tasted the best.

The others tend to serve char siu that’s meatier but noticeably drier, while BBQ & Co leans into fattier cuts with a sweeter glaze, so every bite stays juicy.

Even the rice held up, less mushy than what the Richmond spots pile under their pork.

Every weekday brings a different promo too, so the $9.90 Tuesday is just the anchor.

BBQ & Co joins a run of fresh Vancouver openings, alongside the new Korean salt bread cafe Salt & downtown and Delysees at Oakridge Park.
