The viral rotating matcha bar that had people lining up on weekends in South Granville is officially going permanent.

Emeri shared with Noms Magazine and on their Instagram that they’d just signed its first permanent location in Mount Pleasant, taking over the previous Goldilocks unit on Main Street with a summer 2026 opening.

If you have been following along, we previously covered Emeri’s weekend-only pop-up in South Granville, which ran for about six months and quickly built a dedicated following in the city.

We previosuly reported when that pop-up was winding down, so this news is going to land well with anyone who has been waiting for Emeri’s next move.

Emeri is run by cofounders Josephine Au and Justin Ng, two Vancouver tea lovers who grew the brand from kitchen table blind tastings into an online shop shipping across North America.

Josephine shared with Noms Magazine that the community support made this step feel like a natural progression.

“The Vancouver community has been unbelievably supportive, and connecting with people who genuinely love matcha and hojicha has been one of the most rewarding parts of this,” she told us.

Emeri bills itself as North America’s first rotating matcha bar, and the concept is unlike anything else in the city.

The team showcases first harvest matcha and hojicha from distinct cultivars and flavour profiles, with every cup hand whisked to order.

To date, they have sampled just under 300 different matchas, and the permanent location will let them introduce even more to Vancouver.

Dedicated tasting notes will guide guests through what makes each one unique, because as Josephine puts it, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

“Emeri’s number one rule is that we don’t define the best matcha. We help you find yours,” she said.

One of the things that made the pop-up stand out was watching people discover a matcha they never expected to love, and that experience is exactly what the new space is being designed around.

Josephine also hinted that there are a few surprises in store for the new space that have not been announced yet.

Emeri joins a growing list of upcoming food spots in Vancouver that we have been tracking, including Mandy’s Gourmet Salads in Kits and Coal Harbour, Truffle Donut on Kingsway, and Linh Noodle Bar downtown.
