A Steveston ramen counter is letting guests trade pull-up reps for free food.
G-Men at Steveston is bringing back its Pull-Up Challenge from 11:30 am to 2 pm on September 25th.
The challenge was announced and the poster opens with two words: “We’re back!!.”
The rewards run on a three-row chart, split into women’s and men’s counts.
Free ramen, with four bowls to choose from, takes 15 pull-ups for women and 30 for men.
Four pieces of takoyaki take 5 for women and 15 for men.
A single tamago (egg) takes 1 for women and 3 for men.
That bottom row is the real invitation.
“First pull-up, Chasing a personal best, Just here for ramen? You’re welcome,” the post reads, and the poster itself says all levels are welcome.
The top of the chart got harder since the last round.
“Men’s reps went up this time… sorry guys,” the caption admits.
Only clean reps count, and the standard is spelled out in full.
Every rep starts from a dead hang with an overhand grip, arms fully extended and feet off the ground.
The chin has to clear the bar, and swinging, kipping and momentum are all ruled out.
That leaves no room for the half reps and body swings that usually pad a count.
Rewards have to be redeemed during the same visit, and they cannot be combined with other discounts, vouchers, coupons or promotions.
Each guest must place an order, and a $15 minimum spend applies to every guest except participants who earn the free ramen.
In practice, the takoyaki and tamago tiers land as add-ons to a regular lunch, while hitting the ramen tier lifts that minimum.
The window sits inside G-Men’s usual lunch service, which normally runs until 2:30 pm on the days the shop opens, according to its website.
