A Vancouver pizza chain is heading across the water and setting up shop in one of North Vancouver’s oldest buildings.
Ignite Pizzeria just announced that it is opening a new location at 101 Lonsdale Avenue in Lower Lonsdale, marking its fifth location in British Columbia.
The spot is taking over the unit that previously housed Lift Breakfast Bakery, inside the Beasley Block, a heritage building that dates back to 1906.
In an Instagram post, Ignite shared a photo of the building along with the caption “Over 100 years later… it’s about to heat up this spring.”
The post noted that the Beasley Block was part of North Vancouver’s early commercial hub, filled with shops and stories, and that it still holds its original false storefront and early frontier shop feel.
For those unfamiliar with Ignite, the pizza chain was founded in the summer of 2017 with the goal of bringing a new pizza experience at the right price to Vancouver’s food scene.
The name is a nod to the Latin word for “to start a fire,” which makes sense given that their pizzas are cooked in 800-degree stone-fired ovens.
Ignite currently operates four other locations.
There is the licensed Mount Pleasant spot on Main Street, the Gastown express location on West Cordova, the licensed Yaletown spot on Mainland Street, and the licensed South Surrey location.
The menu focuses on traditional stone-fired pizza in a modern setting, with gluten-friendly, vegan, and vegetarian options available.
The North Vancouver expansion is the latest sign that the brand is looking beyond its Vancouver core.
North Vancouver has been no stranger to new food openings lately.
The Lonsdale Quay area in particular has seen a massive transformation over the last couple of years.
The Lonsdale Quay Market itself just celebrated 40 years and its food court hall has been completely revamped.
And just recently, Provisions Italiana opened up in the nearby Shipyards District, bringing Roman-style pizza to the area.
It is clear that Lower Lonsdale is becoming one of the more competitive food neighbourhoods on the North Shore, and Ignite is betting that there is room for another serious pizza option.
The North Vancouver location is currently under renovation with an anticipated opening this spring 2026.
No exact date has been announced yet, but Ignite said to stay tuned for more details.
