One of the fastest growing acai chains in Metro Vancouver just hit double digits.

Oakberry has officially opened its 10th location in the region, this time inside the food court at Metropolis at Metrotown.

The new spot took over the former Jamaican food stall in the mall and opened this past weekend.

To celebrate the launch, the Brazilian acai brand gave away free acai cups to the first 50 customers on opening day.

If you are not familiar with the brand, Oakberry is a global acai chain that started in Brazil.

They have been on an aggressive expansion across Metro Vancouver over the past couple of years, and the Metrotown opening pushes them to ten locations in the region.

That is a serious footprint for any food brand, let alone one built entirely around acai bowls and smoothies.

This is now their second location in Burnaby.

The other one is inside the TABLES food court at Amazing Brentwood.

The menu at Oakberry is built around customizable acai bowls where you pick your base, toppings, and extras.

They also have smoothies, juices, and acai on tap.

The bowls are a popular grab and go option for shoppers, and the food court setting at Metrotown makes it easy to swing by on a mall run.

And they are not slowing down.

The chain is currently working on opening its first Richmond location, though no timeline or address has been shared yet.

Oakberry Metrotown now joins a wave of recent food openings in Burnaby like Baohaus, Money Food Ent. at Crystal Mall, and Panda Pancakes.
