Exciting news for Vancouverites craving a fresh and rebellious dining experience.
Good Thief is opening its doors on July 11th, promising to shake up the city’s culinary scene.
Located at 3336 Main Street (beside Anh and Chi) in Mount Pleasant, Good Thief is the brainchild of the team behind the award-winning Anh and Chi.
Drawing from their global travels and an endless quest for new ideas, Good Thief embodies the spirit of a modern-day Robin Hood.
It takes inspiration from diverse ingredients, cooking methods, and dishes from around the world, blending them creatively in a community-focused atmosphere.
Good Thief’s concept is inspired by “nhậu,” a beloved Vietnamese tradition of gathering for food, drink, and lively conversation.
The bar aims to recreate this vibe with a menu that blends traditional Vietnamese flavours with global influences.
Co-founders and brother-sister duo Vincent Nguyễn and Amelie Thuy Nguyễn describe Good Thief as the “rebellious sibling of Anh and Chi”.
The menu features luxurious cocktails and experimental share plates.
Beverage Director Ben Kingstone has crafted a cocktail list that showcases unique ingredients and house-made components.
Highlights include the Latok About It martini, made with sea grape-infused vodka, and the Five Inch Yellow, a tart and spicy drink with Whistlepig Rye and starfruit.
For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, Good Thief offers handmade sodas, local beer collaborations, and a curated selection of wines from around the world.
Chef Jonathan Lee, formerly of Blue Water Cafe, leads the kitchen with a menu that ranges from small bites to larger share plates.
Dishes like crispy pomme frites with curry leaf and Thai green chili aioli, and Pho-spiced Oxtail crepinette showcase the fusion of traditional and modern flavours.
The interior of Good Thief is a chic and playful nod to 1970s Vietnamese bars.
The 40-seater space combines East and West, creating a vibrant atmosphere perfect for socializing.
Good Thief also continues Anh and Chi’s philanthropic efforts with their Reservation by Donation program.
This initiative allows guests to reserve a table by donating to local charities, making each visit not just enjoyable but meaningful.
