It’s official: R+D Kitchen by White Spot at Amazing Brentwood is closing its doors.
After a wave of rumours and whispers over the past month (even a tip from Burnaby Bulletin in early April), the goodbye signs are up, and their Instagram account has gone private.
It’s clear that they’re wrapping things up.
Opened just last year in 2022, R+D Kitchen was a fresh new concept by White Spot – which has several decades of restaurant history.
It was all about innovation, giving guests a first taste of new and creative dishes straight from White Spot’s Culinary Centre.
This meant diners got to try some pretty unique items like the Truffled Mushroom Wagyu Burger, Shimeji Mushroom Tempura, and the R+D Big Salad.
All ontop of the usual iconic offerings White Spot has.
R+D Kitchen was also the only full-service restaurant and bar at the TABLES food court in the mall.
Despite all of this, it seems things didn’t quite work out.
People online and the reviews point to the spot being usually empty and very lackluster service.
Whereas the folks at the Burnaby Bulletin have pointed to the recent opening of a new, large three-floor Tap + Barrel as a possible reason for the closure.
Although the staff member on the phone wouldn’t specify the cause of the closure, they did state that the final day for R+D Kitchen will be April 28th.
