With British Columbia being a prime location for film crews, there are certainly a lot of celebrity sightings.

Nui, the Korean restaurant on Main Street, just hosted two actors from the second season of Shōgun.

“It was such a pleasure welcoming Masataka Kubota and Asami Mizukawa for dinner last night,” the restaurant wrote on Instagram.

The dinner happened recently, earlier in September, though the restaurant did not share an exact date.

“Thank you both for bringing such warmth to our little space and spending your evening with us,” the post continued, before signing off with a promise.

“We’ll be cheering you on in Shōgun Season 2!”

Then came the Japanese line, which thanks the pair for visiting Nui and says the team hopes to see them both again soon.

The photo itself is not a staged table shot.

Six people are squeezed into the kitchen in front of steel shelving stacked with takeout containers, with a thumbs up, a peace sign and a couple of caps in the mix.

Kubota and Mizukawa both joined the Shōgun cast for season two, which is set ten years after the events of the first.

The season filmed across B.C. from January 28 to September 12, 2026, according to production tracker Hollywood North Buzz.

That wrap date matters.

The cast has been out eating around Vancouver since the cameras stopped, and Nui is not their only recent stop.

Mnimes Restaurant and Bar on Victoria Drive also hosted members of the Shōgun cast earlier in September.

Nui opened in March 2025 in the former Autostrada space on Main Street, from chef Jae Hwang.

When we covered the opening, Hwang had cooked at Maenam, Bufala and Wildebeest, and said the menu’s heart came from “a simple yet deeply comforting dish of rice and hot soup that my father loved.”

The name has its own story.

According to the restaurant, Nu is an old Korean word for mother, also used for an older sister, and the room is meant to carry that quiet, steady warmth.

The anchor of the menu is the gomtang, which the restaurant lists as rice and barley in a seasoned pork broth with sliced pork and chive oil, served with kimchi and shrimp paste.

Nui is also on Air Canada enRoute’s list of 32 finalists for Canada’s Best New Restaurants 2026.
