If you’re a Starbucks fan, well there’s now less of them in the city.
Four shops have now closed in Metro Vancouver.
The four are at 125 Davie Street, 891-885 Dunsmuir Street and 960 Seymour Street in Vancouver, and 2201 Holdom Avenue in Burnaby.
Global News verified eight BC closures in all, with most stores having their last day on September 26.
The other four are in Victoria, Kelowna, Osoyoos and Merritt.
Starbucks announced the cuts on September 24 in a letter to employees from chief operating officer Mike Grams, saying the stores would close later that week.
He put the total at “approximately 1% of our more than 18,000 North America coffeehouses.”
The reason, in his words: these are locations “where we do not believe we can consistently deliver the experience we want for customers and partners or where we don’t see a path to acceptable financial performance.”
The letter doesn’t say how many of the 250 are in Canada.
Staff at the closed stores will be offered transfers “wherever possible,” according to the letter, and anyone Starbucks can’t place in another store gets severance.
“Every year we close some coffeehouses and open others as part of managing our portfolio,” Grams wrote.
He added that the company is “actively developing a strong pipeline of new coffeehouses” in North America.
This is the second September in a row.
On September 27, 2025, we reported eight Metro Vancouver Starbucks closures, from Richlea Square in Richmond to Denman Street, Port Moody and Surrey.
None of those eight addresses are on this year’s list.
For regulars, Starbucks says it will help customers keep their routines by “directing them to nearby coffeehouses.”
