The current state of the food industry is a difficult one, with many longtime and relatively new spots shutting down.

And it seems it has quickly claimed another victim in Vancouver.

We’re here to share the closure of West End’s Day Plus Cafe after less than a shocking 2 weeks of operation.

Opened in February 17th for soft opening at the former location of Juicy 88 Hotdog, the cafe offered a menu that included bagel and breakfast sandwiches, egg bennys, fish and chips, and specialty drinks.

Because two of our Cherry Blossom Food Fest vendors are located in the West End, we’ve frequented the neighborhood at least twice a week since late March.

Each time we passed by Day Plus Cafe, it was closed, even though their Google Business listing indicated it should be open.

Reviewing their Instagram, we found several comments dated seven weeks ago from people complaining that the store was closed when they visited during the advertised happy hour period.

All signs indicate that the cafe has been shut down since March 1st.

The final indication came when we stumbled upon a commercial listing for the unit last week, which has now been removed.

After more digging, we found out that the unit has now been sold.

This is a peculiar case of a cafe that underwent renovations only to open for 2 weeks before closing down.

It is uncertain whether the new owner will continue with the existing concept or introduce a new one.
