Vancouver Island Pizza Chain Just Opened On Robson Street

The West End food scene is doing what it always does, shuffling players in and out by the season.

The latest name on the move-in list is LOCAL Pizza, the Vancouver Island chain that quietly opened its first Vancouver location on Robson Street in late April.

It moves into 1706 Robson, the unit that previously housed J&G Fried Chicken and the Pause n Sip bubble tea shop.

The unit has been empty for a while so it is great to see it finally being used.

LOCAL Pizza built its name across Vancouver Island with shops in Duncan, Comox, Courtenay, Nanaimo, and Victoria.

This is the brand’s first jump across the Sea to the mainland, and the West End is the chosen landing spot.

The format is by-the-slice with affordable combos, similar to the slice shops Vancouverites already use as late-night fuel.

The display case at the new shop runs from classics like Hawaiian and Meat Lovers to specialty slices like Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Bacon Ranch, BBQ Chicken, Double Pepperoni, and Pesto Veggie.

There are also Cheesy Bread, wings, and a Caesar Salad on the menu for anyone rounding out the combo into a quick meal.

The opening lands in a corner of the city that has seen heavy turnover this spring.

Handson Steak shut down, Pho Q&M wound down, Los Chavos got its lease terminated, and Alberello backed out of its planned West End expansion.

On the new arrivals side, The Waffle Co recently opened in the same neighbourhood.

LOCAL Pizza now joins the list of recently opened food spots in Vancouver like M Cha Bar, Nami Coal Harbour, and Kinton Ramen at Waterfront Centre.
