A “coming soon” sign that sat on a Denman Street storefront has been quietly taken down and replaced with something no one was hoping to see.
A “For Lease” sign now sits in the window of the unit that was supposed to become Alberello Pizzeria’s first Vancouver location.
We walked by last week and found the Alberello branding completely removed.
The space, which had been in various stages of renovation since late 2024, appears to have been vacated.
We first reported on Alberello’s planned West End expansion back in November 2025, when construction signage went up on Denman Street and the roughly 2,500-sq.ft space looked like it was in the early stages of being transformed.
At the time, it felt like a promising addition to the neighbourhood.
Alberello Pizzeria has been a fixture on Lonsdale in North Vancouver since around 2014, known for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizza made with Caputo 00 flour, hand-tossed and stretched to 12 inches, and baked in a stone oven.
A Denman Street outpost would have brought that style of pizza to a neighbourhood that has limited options for sit-down Neapolitan pizza.
Instead, the unit is now back on the market.
It is not clear what led to the decision to pull out.
Renovation timelines, permitting, construction costs, and lease terms can all play a role in a project stalling after months of progress, but no official statement has been made.
The restaurant’s website is offline, and its North Vancouver location is listed as “Temporarily Closed”.
Its Instagram and Facebook pages have also been inactive since October 2024.
The West End continues to be one of the most active neighbourhoods in Vancouver for food business turnover.
New spots open regularly, but planned locations also fall through at a rate that stands out compared to other parts of the city.
Alberello Denman now joins list of recently closed West End food spots like Joongwon, Lattea Robson, and Eldoria BBQ.
