The story of this Richmond tea shop was always about how hard its owner fought for it, which makes the ending a surprise on two counts.
Meet Herb, the healthy herbal tea shop on No. 3 Road, announced in late July that it was shutting down at the end of the month.
The first surprise is that it happened at all, after the year this shop had.
Months before the announcement, local content creator Jaycy shared a video about trying Meet Herb, and in it, owner Ziki Li opened up about how tough things had been financially.
Tough enough that she had sold her own designer purses to keep the business afloat.
The video was widely shared, and people showed up to support her, including us, tasting through the lineup of herbal teas built on an all-natural, wellness-first pitch.
Richmond News also profiled her fight to keep the business alive.
The second surprise is the reason for the ending.
In the closure announcement, the shop said the goodbye is not financial: the owner is leaving Canada for personal reasons.
The announcement even left the door open, inviting anyone confident enough to take over Meet Herb as a business to reach out, pitching it as a quick-start opportunity for a new operator.
Until the end of July, the shop ran a buy-one-get-one-free send-off on everything except matcha, in store only.
The send-off graphic leaned on the shop’s pillars one last time: all natural, fresh fruit, hot or cold, wellness in every sip.
Meet Herb’s run was short but it moved twice.
It opened in June 2025 inside Modkitchen, then moved in August 2025 to the shared unit with Chirpyhut across from the Canadian Tire on No. 3 Road.
That is roughly 14 months from first pour to goodbye, most of it spent grinding.
Whether someone takes up the offer and revives the brand is now the open question.
