Richmond’s food scene has seen a lot of action this summer.
The closures have ranged from shocking abrupt shutdowns to sad goodbyes to longtime restaurants.
Here are the 15 Richmond restaurants that have left the city this summer.
1. Miku River Rock
The River Rock Casino outpost of the well-known Japanese restaurant emptied out without warning. A diner who confirmed her reservation the night before arrived to find the room stripped and the sign behind the host desk gone.
The website went private, the Instagram page disappeared, and OpenTable paused bookings.
Miku eventually released a notice confirming the closure, but only after disappointing its customers and media reporting on the abrupt shutdown.
The unit has now been taken over by Koi.

2. Mikann Shabu
A luxury shabu shabu counter near the Richmond Oval where staff deshelled the shrimp, cracked the crab legs and cut corn off the cob at your table. Every seat had its own induction hob.
The final day of service was August 31, 2026, closing the room after 14 months.

3. Hazukido Cafe Plus
The only Cafe+ in North America from the Taiwanese croissant chain, and a full sit-down restaurant rather than a bakery counter. Brunch combos, pastas, curry rice, soba and udon bowls and afternoon tea ran alongside the honeycomb croissants.
It closed June 14 after a little over two years in Aberdeen Centre.

4. Bruno
The 6,000 square foot flagship dining room at the Versante Hotel, built around an 18-seat communal table and a signature saffron shellfish tagliatelle. It had been dark for more than a month before the farewell landed on June 29.
CASK, the hotel’s whisky and izakaya bar, is still open.
The unit has now been taken over by a new concept.

5. Pho Hoa Richmond
The Alexandra Road pho house that doubled as a Jazen Tea outpost served its last bowl on July 26.
The earliest trace of the location online dates to 2009, putting it past 15 years on the city’s densest restaurant strip.

6. Mino Sushi Conveyor
A revolving sushi belt that only switched on after the kids indoor playground shut at 5PM, with staff curtaining off the ball pit behind floor-to-ceiling festival banners.
Off-menu orders arrived by miniature train. The notice on the glass read “We will CLOSE PERMANENTLY on June 22.”

7. Meet Herb
The herbal tea shop whose owner, Ziki Li, sold her own luxury bags to keep it open, a story that spread locally and brought people through the door to support her. The ending is not financial.
The shop announced in late July that she is leaving Canada for personal reasons.

8. Szechuan Tales
A deep red corner building on Leslie Road serving 新派川菜, new-style Sichuan cooking, since 2022.
We found the doors locked at dinner time, a ladder standing in the middle of the room and the paper umbrellas that decorated the dining room piled in a corner.
The unit has now been taken over by Dolan.

9. Broli Kitchen
Asian-Italian fusion inside Blundell Centre from chef Zhuang Li, who spent a decade as a sous chef at the Sheraton Wall Centre before cooking at Provence Marinaside.
Pasta and pizza run through an Asian lens, a category that barely exists here. Closed after about five years.
The unit has now been replaced by Kam Cafe.

10. Happy Lamb Hot Pot
The Lansdowne Centre location closed July 21 and a crew has since stripped the unit back to a shell, exhaust hoods still hanging in rows over nothing.
It is relocating to 8251 Alexandra Road, set to be the only Happy Lamb in Metro Vancouver running a grill menu alongside the hot pot.
The unit has now been replaced by Sangoku.

11. Jiang Jiang
The Xinjiang stall that held a corner of the Parker Place food court since 2021, about four years in all.
We found the counter wrapped head to toe in plastic sheeting under its own sign, with the closure pointing to early July.
The unit has now been taken over by Jing Noodle House.

12. LUCA
The Aberdeen Centre food court stall went dark, and the replacement was already serving by the time we spotted it.
The team told Noms Magazine they are looking for a new location, with no timeline and no word yet on whether it will be another stall or a full room.
The unit has now been taken over by El Comal Express.

LUCA is hunting for a new home
13. Binggo
The dessert shop on the corner of Union Square, the plaza locals call Diabetes Plaza for its density of bubble tea and dessert counters, shut down in late July.
The door notice and the shop’s WeChat announcement both frame it as a rest before a new shop. No address, no timeline.

14. Pot O’Yogurt
Union Square’s one health-adjacent counter closed after about 19 months.
It opened in January 2025 selling thick Chinese-style yogurt eaten with a spoon, fruit cut to order and folded through it, and whole avocado smoothies.

15. Banh Mi Tres Bon
Founder Lan Do spent five years working on the bread before opening. The Richmond restaurant closed after 10 years, announced September 8 in a farewell she signed herself.
“After 10 wonderful years, Banh Mi Tres Bon Richmond location has closed,” the team wrote. White Rock is still open.

That is a heavy season for one city, and Aberdeen Centre and Union Square carried more than their share of it.
