An affordable Hong Kong-style cafe near the Richmond Oval has quietly closed, less than two years after it opened.
Sing Cafe, at 135-7488 Lansdowne Road, shut its doors in late August.
We couldn’t find a farewell post, and a “For lease” sign is now up in the front door.

The cafe opened back in October 2024 under the Chinese name 双式冰室, with “Sing Cafe Fusion Style” across its sign.
Price was the main draw here.
Its value menu sold ten different meal sets at $10 each, from cheese-baked crispy pork cutlet on rice or spaghetti to curry beef with instant noodles.
The braised beef brisket in tomato and red wine sauce carried the menu’s “Best Seller” tag.

There was an early bird menu too, running twice a day, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and again from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
That’s where you’d find the Hong Kong cafe staples, like peanut butter French toast and BBQ pork with a fried egg on tossed instant noodles.
The window menus also listed soup noodles where you picked two toppings, from satay beef to luncheon meat, plus sandwich sets and an all-day breakfast.
The unit has changed hands several times.
Before Sing Cafe it was Chiu Chow Garden Restaurant until 2024, and before that it was Blackball, which moved in in 2020, and Choco Choo.
What takes over next hasn’t been announced.
The blocks around the Oval have seen other changes lately.
T&T Supermarket closed its Ora store on Hollybridge Way on November 28, 2025, and Mikann Shabu, the shabu counter on Gilbert Road, served its last night on August 31.
If you were a regular for the $10 sets, the unit is listed for lease, and we’ll report on the next tenant once a sign goes up.
Sing Cafe joins other recent Richmond closures like Sweet7, Jiawei Big Bowl Rice Noodle and Bánh Mì Très Bon.
