A global mango tea chain closed its only Richmond shop, in the plaza locals call Diabetes Plaza, on September 30.
Sweet7 announced it on Instagram in a post titled “A Sweet Goodbye to Richmond,” saying “September 30 will be the last day of SWEET7 Richmond.”
The shop is at 1131-8328 Capstan Way in Union Square Shopping Centre, and it opened on March 6, 2025, for a run of about 19 months.
The post doesn’t give a reason.
It thanks Richmond “for every visit, every drink, and every sweet moment,” and says Sweet7’s downtown Vancouver shop “will continue to serve you.”
Richmond was the chain’s second shop in North America, after it debuted downtown in January 2024.
The Richmond menu leaned hard on mango, led by the mango pomelo sago, which came in signature, cheesy and coconut versions for the grand opening.

The unit itself has only ever traded tea for tea in our coverage.
YiFang Fruit Tea closed there on October 1, 2024, after six years, according to the notice on its door, and Sweet7 announced it was taking the space four days later.
This is another change for Diabetes Plaza, and in our books no plaza in Richmond turns over faster.
This summer alone, Binggo shut down in late July, and we found Pot O’Yogurt closed in August.

New tenants keep filling in behind them, including Chuan Noodle House, which soft opened on August 3, and TeaByDo, which soft opened on August 25.
Lao Lao and Lucky Star Chicken have opened in the plaza too, and we’ll have more on both soon.
There’s no word on what will take over the Sweet7 unit.
We’re willing to bet it’ll be another bubble tea shop.
Regulars can still get their Sweet7 fix at the Robson Street shop downtown.
Sweet7 joins other recent Richmond closures like Jiawei Big Bowl Rice Noodle, Sweet Memory and Shine Valley.
