It came back once before, but this time the lights are off for good.
Joongwon Korean Chinese Restaurant on Robson Street in downtown Vancouver has quietly shut down.
A new Hong Kong-style cart noodle shop has already moved into the unit.
We walked by the spot last week and found the transition had already happened, with the new spot already in operation.

Joongwon first opened around 2017 and spent the better part of a decade on this stretch of Robson, serving Korean-Chinese comfort food to the downtown crowd.
The menu was built around the classics of the Korean-Chinese genre: jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork).
This is not the first time Joongwon has made closure news.
Back in November 2024, we reported that the restaurant had quietly shuttered after about seven years, with its Google listing tagged as “Temporarily Closed” and the storefront covered up.
That closure felt like the end.

Turns out they were just renovating for a year, but the team brought it back.
In July 2025, Joongwon reopened, and we covered the return.
For regulars, it felt like a second chance for a spot that had carved out a niche in a neighbourhood dominated by ramen, sushi, and bubble tea.
That second run has now ended.
The unit has been taken over by what appears to be a Hong Kong-style cart noodle shop.

No announcement has been made on Joongwon’s Instagram profile and its Google Business listing still has it as active.
Joongwon joins other recently closed food spots in Vancouver, including Fortune Lamb Dining, Eldoria BBQ, and Lattea Robson.
