A downtown Vancouver butter cookie and matcha pop-up that was about to wrap up is now staying for the rest of 2026.
Buttercrumbs, the online bakery brand that opened a Cookies & Tea Bar in Bentall Centre’s lower concourse in July, shared the news on Instagram in mid-October.
The first slide read: “tomorrow is supposed to be our last day at the cafe.”
Then came the answer to the question the team says customers asked almost every day: “YES! Buttercrumbs is staying in downtown Vancouver for the rest of 2026.”
The counter sits across the concourse from Dante, the Italian sandwich spot, and serves the brand’s butter cookies alongside matcha and other drinks.
Before July, the brand ran on pre-orders and pickup days, so this was its first real stab at running a counter.
It hasn’t been easy.

In the same post, the team called the last 90 days “some of the most challenging months we’ve had running Buttercrumbs.”
Wasted cream cost them $2,387 worth of potential drinks.
They ran out of matcha the day before their launch event, and the new shipment landed less than eight hours before they opened for it.
They ran out of ice too, and the neighbours lent them some.
Their order printer went offline mid-service, leaving three stations to track orders by hand.
They also learned how much foot traffic swings downtown, where one warehouse sale could send a sudden rush of customers carrying Aritzia bags their way.

The part they say stuck with them most was customers waiting longer than they should have.
“Running a cafe taught us very quickly that making good products is only half the job,” one slide reads.
The team also says it has “exciting things coming soon,” without saying what.
If you work around Burrard Street, it’s a weekday-only counter, open 8am to 4pm, so it’s a morning or lunch-break stop rather than a weekend one.
Buttercrumbs joins Unscripted Coffee, the Granville Street pop-up that’s also staying through 2026, and recent downtown openings like Linh Noodle Bar and Yoona’s Cafe & Tapas.
