Sad news for the noodle community in Vancouver – Chef Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle has closed its doors in Kerrisdale.

The only Vancouver outpost that remains for the chain is in UBC.

Launching in Metro Vancouver in 2009, Chef Hung quickly became the spot for authentic Taiwanese beef noodles.

For those growing up in the city, it was a decent spot to get some well-priced beef noodles.

The master behind the bowl, Chef Hung himself, is a culinary wizard with three wins at the Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival Competition under his belt.

The Kerrisdale closure came as the lease ended, but it’s part of a bigger picture.

After shutting down its downtown dining concept, Chef Hung Taiwan Bistro 990, last October, the Kerrisdale closure feels like a dwindling pattern for Chef Hung’s presence in Vancouver.

While the Vancouver scene feels the loss, Chef Hung continues to serve its bowls of noods in their Richmond, Burnaby and UBC outposts.
