UPDATE March 22, 2024: The PR team representing Miso Taco has informed Noms Magazine that the restaurant did list the business for sale but now had “changes in [their] plans, and [they] are no longer pursuing the sale.”

This is great news for fans of Miso Taco!

In the ever-evolving landscape of the restaurant industry, the post-pandemic economy continues to wreck havoc with frequent closures.

Recently, a new business listing caught our eye, signaling changes coming to Vancouver’s Chinatown in the distant future.

Miso Taco, known for their Mexican-Japanese street food, has been listed for sale, just months after its opening in June 2023.

They quickly made a name for themselves with its generous portions and flavourful fillings that beautifully merge Mexican and Japanese influences.

The menu boasts items like Breakfast Burrito, Kimchi Nacho Fries with Chicken Karaage, Teriyaki Taco Bowl with Pork Chashu, and the crowd-favourite Miso Margarita.

The modern, laid-back vibe of the space, complete with opportunities to play Street Fighter or watch anime on the TVs, added to its appeal.

Before Miso Taco brought its fusion fare to the neighbourhood, the space was home to The Darkside, which itself had a brief six-month run after taking over from The Union.

This cycle of change shows the harsh realities of the current food scene.

The 2,100 sq.ft space, now up for grabs, has a lease of $9,600 per month—with an asking price of $199,000.

Despite the listing, our source suggests that this isn’t the end for the beloved fusion spot and is on the hunt for a new location.

For now, enjoy their bites in Chinatown.
