Burnaby is quickly becoming the go-to spot for Asian cuisine in Metro Vancouver.
Already known for its abundance of hot pot joints, Burnaby is also beefing up its Korean BBQ game.
Coquitlam’s Galbi KBBQ has already made a splash with their Metrotown area location, which soft opened this past September.
And it seems they’re not stopping there.
We spotted signs for Galbi KBBQ’s next venture—a second location in Burnaby, this time at Gilmore Place, the new planned community by Onni in the Brentwood area.
You may already know Gilmore Place as the future home of a massive T&T Supermarket, but the food scene there is shaping up to be even more exciting.
Galbi KBBQ will be joining an expanding lineup of food spots moving into Gilmore Place, including Kinton Ramen, which we covered last month.
Other names that will call Gilmore Place home include KFC, Trees Organics, and Brooklyn Dumpling, adding to what looks like a promising foodie hotspot.
For those not familiar, Galbi KBBQ is a Korean BBQ restaurant that first opened in Coquitlam in 2021.
Their well-rounded menu—think marinated beef short ribs, brisket point, fresh pork jowl, and pork belly, alongside beloved Korean staples like seafood pancake, japchae, and bibimbap.
The Metrotown spot, which took over the old Chirpyhut Chicken corner unit on Kingsway, has a stylish and modern vibe, mixing exposed brick and concrete walls with warm copper pendant lights.
With Sooda also relocating to Amazing Brentwood TABLES and now Galbi opening at Gilmore Place, the Brentwood area will soon be packed with plenty of Korean food options for locals to enjoy.
However, with the ongoing construction at Gilmore Place, it might be a while before we can dig into some freshly grilled KBBQ there.
But one thing’s for sure—Burnaby’s food scene is heating up, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
