Maruhachi Ramen To Launch New Affordable Onigiri Brand In Vancouver

If you’re a fan of Japanese onigiri and happen to work around the Broadway-City Hall area, you’re in for a treat!

The team behind Maruhachi Ramen, one of Vancouver’s top ramen chains, is about to launch a brand-new venture called Onigiri-Ya, bringing delicious and affordable onigiri to the heart of the city.

In a time when Vancouverites are feeling the pinch of rising costs, dining out has become a luxury many can no longer afford.

Recognizing this struggle, the Maruhachi Ramen team decided to step in with a solution.

Their goal?

To provide high-quality, affordable food that everyone can enjoy.

And what better option than onigiri, the Japanese soul food that’s just as comforting as ramen but much easier on the wallet?

Onigiri-Ya will be offering these tasty rice balls starting at just $1.99, with prices going up to $2.99 for some of the more premium options.

Plus, if you buy three or more, you’ll get an additional 10% off.

This affordable pricing is made possible by sourcing premium Koshihikari rice in bulk from Japan, ensuring great quality at unbeatable prices.

The new Onigiri-Ya shop will be opening inside Juemon Ramen on West Broadway.

The location was chosen for its heavy foot traffic, especially during the morning rush from the 99 B-Line bus and Canada Line commuters.

Initially, the concept will be grab-and-go, but if demand is strong, the team is considering adding dine-in options in the future.

The menu at Onigiri-Ya will feature 18 different onigiri options, offering a mix of popular favorites and unique flavours.

Expect to find classics like tuna mayo and salmon, alongside more adventurous options like pork kimchi, unagi cream cheese, ikura, and lu rou fan.

For those who want a bit more, Tonjiru (pork and veggie miso soup) and bentos will also be available.

Onigiri-Ya is set to officially grand open its doors inside Juemon Ramen on September 3.

However, if you can’t wait until then, you can get an early taste at this weekend’s Dumpling Fest on August 10, where they’ll be doing their first-ever service as a pop-up.

Share this exciting news with your friends and make sure to swing by Onigiri-Ya for a quick, affordable bite on the go!
