A longtime late-night pizza spot on Downtown Vancouver’s Granville strip has closed after more than 15 years.
Megabite Pizza shut its shop at 1005 Granville Street, on the corner of Granville and Nelson, in late July.
It sat right in the Granville Entertainment District, among the bars and nightclubs.
For years, it was a go-to Friday night stop on the strip.

The shop has posted a farewell on its website under the headline “Thank You, Granville!”
“Dear Vancouver, thank you for every slice, every laugh, and every late night,” it reads. “Whether you found us at lunch or at 2 a.m., you kept showing up.”
The note calls it “an honour to be your go-to spot on the strip for over 15 years.”

No reason for the closure was given.
The Granville corner sold pizza by the slice, with poutine and hot dogs advertised on a sign out front.
Megabite isn’t gone from the Lower Mainland, though.
The farewell’s subhead reads “This is not a goodbye but a see you in our other locations!”

The chain still runs other outposts along Commercial, in Burnaby and Port Coquitlam.
When we walked past the corner, the red Megabite awnings were still up over the empty windows.
As of early October, no one has taken over the unit.
For a Megabite slice in Vancouver now, the Commercial and Broadway shop is the one to head to.
Megabite joins other recent Vancouver closures like Kim House, Caffè Artigiano on Main Street and Fable Kitchen.
