A Vancouver Island pizza chain has opened a late-night slice shop on Downtown Vancouver’s Granville strip, open until 3 a.m.
LOCAL Pizza is now open at 1005 Granville Street, on the corner of Granville and Nelson.
It held its grand opening on October 24, with 99-cent slices for the first 99 customers.

It’s the unit Megabite Pizza left in late July after more than 15 years on the strip.
LOCAL Pizza is a different company, not a Megabite relaunch.
When we walked past in early October, the old red Megabite awnings were still hanging over dark windows.
Now there’s a blue LOCAL Pizza sign over an orange awning, plus a round LOCAL Pizza sign hanging over the corner.
The new shop keeps the late-night role.
According to the brand’s website, it’s open from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily, right among the bars and clubs of the Granville Entertainment District.

This is LOCAL Pizza’s second Vancouver shop.
The chain built its name on Vancouver Island, with shops in Victoria, Nanaimo, Duncan, Comox, Courtenay and Campbell River.
It made the jump to the mainland in late April, when it opened at 1706 Robson Street in the West End.
A Fraser Street location is also listed as opening soon on its website.
Like the Robson shop, Granville sells pizza by the slice.
A sign on the front of the display case reads “Any slice same price.”

The chain’s signature pies, which it calls its Local Legends, include Double Pepperoni, Butter Chicken, Pesto Chicken, Shahi Paneer and Beyond Veggie.
Another screen advertises plant-based options made with Beyond Meat.
Cheesy bread and chicken wings round out the sides.
Megabite fans haven’t lost their slice for good, either.
The farewell notice it posted in the summer promised “see you in our other locations!”
For a slice on the way home from the strip, the corner of Granville and Nelson is back in business until 3 a.m.
LOCAL Pizza joins other recent Vancouver openings like Kith Treats, The Moon Martini Bar & Restaurant and Yoona’s Cafe & Tapas.
