A Japanese teishoku cafe from Kitsilano is opening its second location in Kerrisdale, in the old Faubourg unit on West 41st.
Bento Cafe announced the new spot at 2156 West 41st Avenue on its Instagram on September 27.
A Noms Mag community member (0370van) also spotted the signs on the windows.
The post promises “Japanese Teishoku, chef-crafted sushi & bento, drinks, snacks and more.”
No opening date has been announced, and the account’s bio still lists the Kerrisdale address as coming soon.
That unit was Faubourg’s Kerrisdale bakery.
The French bakery didn’t leave the block, though, and its website now lists it a few doors down at 2184 West 41st.
The original Bento Cafe soft opened on June 27, 2025, in the former Kahve Cafe unit on West 1st Avenue in Kits, so Kerrisdale is coming about 15 months later.
At the Kitsilano location, the draw is the teishoku set: a main with rice or pasta, soup, chawanmushi, and sides like pickles and salad.
When we visited in June 2025, the mains included hamburg steak, chicken nanban and a salmon fillet with tomato cream sauce, plus sushi and sashimi sets like an aburi salmon oshi.
We tried the chicken nanban set on that visit and left pretty full.
Whether Kerrisdale will run the same menu hasn’t been said yet.
Until the doors open, the teishoku sets are at the Kitsilano original at 1822 West 1st Avenue.
Bento Cafe joins other upcoming Vancouver openings like Nuan Nuan Beef Noodle House in the West End, Ramen Danbo in Yaletown and Jersey Mike’s in Kitsilano.
