Coquitlam’s food scene just got a deliciously unique addition!
Pizza Maru, the famed Korean Pizza and Fried Chicken brand known globally, has recently soft-opened its doors in Lougheed.
This marks the brand’s second outlet in B.C., following the launch of its first branch in the West End back in February 2023.
What sets Pizza Maru apart from the rest?
It’s all in the dough – a patented Green Tea Dough, to be exact.
This innovative dough is made from 10 natural grains, including green tea, chlorella, oats, rye, and barley, among others.
This special blend not only offers a unique taste and texture but also a healthier twist to your usual pizza fare.
Yes, you read that right. Green tea in pizza dough!
At Pizza Maru, the menu is anything but ordinary.
Alongside classic favourites like pepperoni and cheese pizzas, you’ll find an array of special Korean-style options.
From the cheese-laden Kaboom Cheese Bomb to the robust Monster Pepperoni, and not forgetting the Korean-inspired Holy Honey Sweet Potato or AAA Steaky Smoked pizzas.
But that’s not all – they also serve Oven Baked Chicken, Oven Spaghetti dishes, Katsu, and Korean Rice Cakes.
The Lougheed Pizza Maru is a franchise owned by Seong Pyo, a newcomer to the food business scene.
Over the past few months, Seong Pyo has shared his journey, including the hurdles he’s faced as a new food entrepreneur and immigrant, on Instagram.
Note that the Lougheed outpost, unlike its West End counterpart, is exclusively for takeout only.
And during the soft opening phase, some items are not yet available and are not taking online orders.
For those seeking a promo, you’ll have to wait until the grand opening that is coming up soon.
