Fans of fluffy pancakes, the wait is almost over—and it’s even sooner than you might think!
While the official grand opening of Fuwa Fuwa Dessert Cafe on Robson Street was delayed last minute to November 30, the new Vancouver location has quietly began its soft opening phase.
We spotted guests dining in today Saturday November 23rd as we passed by, getting an early taste of those jiggly pancakes that have made Fuwa Fuwa a sensation across Canada and beyond.
If you’ve been eagerly waiting to try North America’s largest soufflé pancake and dessert café, mark your calendars for the official celebration, running from November 30 to December 1.
Here’s what Fuwa Fuwa has in store for its grand opening on Robson:

- Time: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

The festivities are bringing some epic freebies and giveaways, so you’ll definitely want to swing by.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Day 1: A FREE drink with any pancake purchase for all registered winners.
- Day 2: A FREE cheesecake slice with any pancake purchase for registered winners.
- Special Giveaways: The first 50 in-store purchases of any pancake and drink each day will receive exclusive Fuwa Fuwa merch, including tote bags, key chains, and caps. Plus, you’ll also have a chance to win a $100 gift card with any purchase!
Yes – you read that right – you’ll need to register to get those perks.

Who is Fuwa Fuwa?
Fuwa Fuwa, a popular East Coast chain known for their soufflé pancakes, is finally landing in Vancouver.
The brand actually opened their first BC location on Oct. 17th in Langley.
Fuwa Fuwa, which means “fluffy fluffy,” first launched in Toronto back in 2018, and since then, they’ve expanded across Canada, the U.S., and even the UK.
With 10 locations in Ontario, 5 in Alberta, and others sprinkled in the U.S. and Quebec, it’s safe to say these guys have nailed the soufflé pancake game.
So, what makes these pancakes so special?
Each Fuwa Fuwa pancake starts with egg whites whipped to soft peaks, which is key to their airy texture.
They’re cooked slowly at a low temperature to achieve that delicate balance between a soufflé and a traditional pancake—soft, bouncy, and incredibly light.
Besides their famous pancakes, Fuwa Fuwa’s menu is filled with a variety of sweet treats and drinks.
You can try their signature fluffy pancakes topped with fresh cream and fruits, or go for some unique flavours like Matcha Tiramisu or Crème Brulee Pancakes, complete with torched caramelized sugar on top.
And if you’re in the mood for something savoury, you’ll love their croffles—a flaky, crispy fusion of croissant and waffle—with options like Avocado or Smoked Salmon Croffle.
Since the locations are franchised, it’s safe to say they’ll carry the same items as the other locations.
The new location will be opening in the heart of the West End, right next to the recently opened Perfecto Cafe on Robson and Nicola St.
Of course, with the arrival of Fuwa Fuwa, it’s hard not to think of the similar chain Gram Japanese Pancakes, which shut down all three of its Vancouver locations last year.
It will be interesting to see if Fuwa Fuwa can find more success where others struggled.
