It is happening again.
Another MeeT location in Vancouver is closing its doors, and this time it is the Yaletown spot.
MeeT in Yaletown on Mainland Street has announced it will permanently close on Saturday, March 28.
The plant-based comfort food restaurant has been in the neighbourhood for eight years.
“We realize this may come as a surprise to many of you, but we’ve made the difficult decision to close our 8-year-strong MeeT in Yaletown location,” the announcement on the Instagram page reads.
The team pointed to the post-COVID economy as the main factor.
They said the restaurant industry has not been the same since the pandemic, with the cost structure changing dramatically.
Food and labour costs continue to rise while fewer people are dining out.
They also acknowledged that having multiple locations close to each other has become a challenge.
The decision is to consolidate and focus on their original spot, MeeT on Main.

This is the second MeeT closure in less than six months.
We covered the Gastown location shutting down back in November after nearly a decade in the courtyard at Water Street.
With Yaletown gone, MeeT on Main will be the last one standing.
The team says they are doubling down on the original location with plans for expanded hours, refreshed menus, a brand new patio, and the potential addition of brunch.
“MeeT on Main is absolutely remaining OPEN and will continue serving your MeeT favourites, with some exciting updates on the way,” the post reads.
MeeT first opened on Main Street in 2013 and quickly became one of Vancouver’s most popular plant-based restaurants.
The menu is known for its hearty veggie burgers, loaded fries, mac and cheese, and other comfort food dishes that appeal to both vegans and non-vegans alike.

The Yaletown location was the largest of the three, featuring a full bar and a covered patio on Mainland Street.
It became a popular spot for date nights and group dinners in the area.
March 28 will be the final day of service and the last weekend to enjoy the brunch menu at the Yaletown location.
The team is encouraging regulars to visit over the next couple of weeks to say goodbye.
MeeT in Yaletown now joins other recently closed food spots in Vancouver like Bacaro, Goldilocks Main, and Gringo.
