A West End fried chicken sandwich shop that grew out of a Vancouver food truck is closing its Denman Street restaurant after four years.
Frying Pan on Denman will have its last day on November 8, the team announced on Instagram.
The restaurant opened at 1101 Denman Street on September 22, 2022, in a space that used to be a Fatburger.
Before that, Frying Pan was known around town as a Korean-inspired food truck.
The team says rising costs made the call for them.
“With rent, wages, and food costs continuing to rise, it became harder and harder to keep going with our current menu and prices,” the post reads.
“We tried our very best, but sometimes, even giving everything you have isn’t enough.”
The Denman room was built around halal fried chicken sandwiches, with heat levels that run from no heat at all up to extra spicy.
The menu also carried a Nashville-meets-Korea hot chicken sandwich, Korean yangnyeom chicken bites and fries loaded with smoked beef bulgogi.
We ranked Frying Pan second in our list of the best fried chicken spots in Vancouver in December 2025.
Its Double Decker sandwich earned a line of its own for being absurdly large and hard to eat without making a mess.
The goodbye post signs off with thanks to the regulars who kept the West End shop going.

“You may have come in for a chicken sandwich, but you gave us something so much bigger,” the team wrote.
The team isn’t leaving the food scene, though.
The same post says they recently opened Little Seoul and TORI in the Bentall Centre food court downtown, which they call their next chapter.
Both counters were part of the five new food court spots that Bentall Centre announced in February, alongside Four Bite Burger, Indish and Zab Bite Thai Express.
The Frying Pan food trucks are continuing, too.
Only the Denman restaurant is closing.
If the Double Decker or the bulgogi fries were your West End order, you have until November 8 to grab one more on Denman.
Frying Pan on Denman joins other recent West End closures like Legendary Noodle on Denman, Hook at English Bay and Tabom on Robson.
