Another longtime food court stall in Richmond has gone dark, and this time the reason is not a lease or a rebrand.
It is retirement.
Taikoo Yummy Food, known in Chinese as 太古美食, has closed its shutters at Pacific Plaza food court on Odlin Crescent in Richmond after more than 15 years of service.

We shared about this upcoming closure back in late March as the stall posted two notices about their holiday departure and upcoming retirement.
The stall served its last meal on April 28, 2026.

Losing a spot like Taikoo Yummy hits differently than a trendy restaurant closing.
This was a food court stall that regulars grew up eating at, the kind of place where the menu never changed because it did not need to.
Taikoo Yummy was a Hong Kong-style comfort food stall that ran deep on homestyle Cantonese cooking.
The menu covered all the staples: stir-fry beef noodle, curry beef brisket rice, crispy roast pork sold by the pound, and a Longgang chicken rice noodle soup that regulars swore by.
They also did a whole fried chicken that required a day’s advance order, and a laksa with a creamy coconut broth that held up against standalone restaurants, let alone food court competition.
Pacific Plaza itself is one of those Richmond malls that feels like it has not changed in decades.
The food court there has always been a rotation of small family-run operations serving honest, no-frills Cantonese and Southeast Asian food at food court prices.

Taikoo Yummy was one of the longer-standing names in that rotation, and its closure leaves one less reason to make the trip.
The retirement adds to what has been a turbulent stretch for Richmond food courts in general.
Empire Centre food court has seen turnover.
Lansdowne food court has gone through changes.
Admiralty Centre food court has shuffled stalls.
And Aberdeen Centre’s food court has had its own wave of departures.

But most of that churn is driven by leases, competition, and shifting foot traffic.
Taikoo Yummy is different.
This was a longtime operator stepping away because it was time.
Some of these food court stalls across Richmond are run by owners who have been at it for 15, 20, sometimes 25 years.
As that generation reaches retirement age, the turnover is not always about the business failing.
Sometimes the business was doing fine, and the person behind the counter just decided it was enough.
That is what makes this one harder to replace.
The stall can be filled, but the consistency and the relationships built over 15-plus years are gone with it.
Taikoo Yummy Food joins other recently closed food spots in Richmond, including Grandma Liu Hot Pot, Katte Lansdowne, and Golden Time BBQ.
