The one shop in this Richmond plaza selling something a dietitian would approve more of has gone dark.
Pot O’Yogurt at Union Square has closed after about 19 months.
We noticed the unit shut during regular hours last week with the lights off inside, and Google now tags the business as permanently closed.
The shop opened in January 2025 at 8368 Capstan Way, in a plaza whose tenant list is so heavily weighted toward bubble tea and dessert that locals nicknamed it Diabetes Plaza.
Pot O’Yogurt was the exception on that list.
The menu was built on Chinese-style yogurt, the thick-cut kind you eat with a spoon, plus fresh fruit cut to order and folded through it, and whole avocado smoothies.
The Chinese name on the sign, 满罐酸奶, reads as roughly a full jar of yogurt, which is the format the whole shop was built on.
No successor has been announced for the unit.
The plaza is the harder problem.
Union Square churns tenants faster than almost anywhere in Richmond, and Pot O’Yogurt is the third closure we have covered there recently.
Binggo shut down in late July, and the door notice on its corner unit promised a new shop before anyone had stopped talking about the Mixue rumour attached to that spot.
Hey Yearn, a Henan clay pot restaurant, lasted months before closing, and its unit went up for sale at $298,000 with the kitchen still effectively new.
That is the pattern.
Units here do not sit empty long enough to look abandoned, they just change names.
The turnover runs both directions, though.
Chuan Noodle House, Unique Bakery, and Fisherman’s Kitchen have all opened in the same plaza, and Teabydo is set to open soon.
So the units do not stay dark.
They just stop being the same business.
What that means in practice is that the plaza’s mix keeps tilting further toward the thing it is already known for.
Losing the yogurt shop does not just remove one storefront, it removes the only obvious answer to what you get there when you do not want sugar.
No closing notice went up and no last day was announced, which is now the standard exit around here.
The Instagram account is still live at @potoyogurt with the menu photos intact, and nothing on it says goodbye.
