A longtime Latin-inspired cocktail bar on Main Street in Mount Pleasant is closing at the end of October

Tocador announced on Instagram that it’s “peacing out” after what the team calls “a fabulous nine years” at 2610 Main Street.

“We’ll be open for the rest of October, with Halloween probably being our last night,” the post reads.

The post doesn’t give a reason for the closure.

Reservations are still open through Tocador’s website.

The bar was opened by Dale Styner and Guy Stowell, two longtime Vancouver bar people.

Tocador is Spanish for dressing table.

It launched as a Cuban-inspired spot, with a Cubano sandwich and a list of original cocktails that included the Bird Conspiracy and the Electric Hot Tub.

These days, its website describes a Latin American-inspired kitchen led by Mexico City chef Gabriel Téllez, and the menu leans on tacos like cochinita and birria.

For the final stretch, the team says it has launched a new menu featuring some of its favourite cocktails from over the years.

Both of those 2018 originals are on the menu now posted on its website.

The Bird Conspiracy mixes coconut oil-washed gin with lavender syrup and house-made cardamom bitters, while the Electric Hot Tub pairs gin with absinthe, white sage and egg white.

“There are so many people we would love to see before we go,” the team wrote.

Tocador joins other recent Vancouver closures like Dong Tai Xiang on Cambie Street, Megabite on Granville Street and theVenti on Dunsmuir.
